Spring 2022 | Vol. 4 | No. 1 U AMPP Standards Committees Roll Out Projects for Infrastructure Protection nder the restructured Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) standards program, standards and technical reports are assigned to one of 25 Standards Committees (SCs). Several of the SCs have announced projects in various areas to produce new standards, technical reports, and guides. SC 03, External Coatings—Buried and Immersed SC 03 has launched TM21612—Per-formance Test Methods for Offshore Protective Coating Systems. Set for publication in December 2022, the scope of this new test standard is to specify the coating systems, surface preparation, and test methods. The test methods include rust creepage, edge coverage, thermal cycling, seawater immersion, and cathodic disbondment. The coating systems cover the atmospheric zone, splash zone, and tank lining immersion zone. The test time is only 12 weeks, which is much shorter than the ISO 12944-9 standard. This new standard is more economic and effective in helping facility owners select the proper AMPP Standards Committees Roll Out Projects for Infrastructure Protection …………………………………………………………………………… 1 Strategies to Inspect Thermal Spray Zinc Metalizing ……………………… 4 Concrete Bridges: An Asbestos Regulatory Framework ………………… 6 New Opportunities for U.S. Infrastructure …………………………………… 7 AMPP Editorial: In South Florida and Coastal Areas Worldwide, Corrosion Is a Cry for Help …………………………………………………………………… 9 What the New U.S. Infrastructure Bill Means for Corrosion Specialists 10 The 2021 IMPACT Canada Study: Helping to Bring About Cultural Change in Canada and Throughout the World …………………………… 12 Michigan Invests in Carbon Fiber Technology to Reinforce Bridges … 15 French Utility Company Closes Two Plants Due to Cracks in Infrastructure ……………………………………………………………………… 16 Petra Unveils Unique Tunneling Technology for Utilities ………………… 16 AMPP Infrastructure Education Course Schedule ………………………… 17 AMPP Infrastructure Books ……………………………………………………… 18 AMPP Infrastructure Guides, Technical Reports, and Standards …………………………………………………………………………… 19
